Braid Hills Tree Planting with JP Morgan and Chase

Published March 20, 2025 by in

We planted 45 new trees at the Braid Hills this week thanks to a fantastic team of volunteers from J.P. Morgan and Chase. Species included alder, aspen and bird cherry, bringing the total number of new trees at the Braid Hills to 1,255. We are now approaching the end of the 2024-25 planting season and it is wonderful to look back and see how much we have achieved.

All of the trees we are planting at the Braid Hills are helping to improve biodiversity on the hill. The area was previously dominated by gorse which had completely taken over. For this project we have removed small pockets of gorse and planted trees to create areas of mixed woodland. This will provide more diverse habitat for wildlife and help support climate mitigation.

This project is part of the Edinburgh Million Tree City initiative which aims to plant 1 million trees in Edinburgh by 2030.
