The Queen’s Green Canopy

ELGT has planted 108 trees in East Lothian as part of the Queen’s Green Canopy. The initiative was created to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee by planting trees across the UK until the end of the Jubilee year in December 2022. After the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth, the initiative was extended to March 2023 to include the full tree planting season, giving people the opportunity to plant more trees in her memory.
Thanks to generous donations from local residents, we have been able to plant 108 new trees across East Lothian in the 2022/23 tree planting season contributing to the Queen’s Green Canopy. The new trees included Cherry, Hawthorn, Lime, Whitebeam, Pine, Oak, Juneberry, Hornbeam, Sycamore, and Norway Maple.
